Jazz Festival

We had a great time at the Denton Arts and Jazz Festival this weekend. We went for a little while on both Sat and Sun. I have to confess that I ate way too much junk food but it sure was good! I wish we could have spent more time relaxing on the lawn and enjoying the music but a 3 year old is not all that into just sitting. She just wanted to go play.

Dylan was excited to get her face painted. She picked out a pink butterfly.

Enjoying a Gyro, one of my favorite festival foods. I always have to get one. Wow, have the prices gone up on those things! We should have just stopped and had lunch at International Foods of Denton on Sunset and it would have saved us 1/2 the price.

Bluebonnets

I love taking pictures of Dylan in the beautiful Texas Bluebonnets every spring. Our usual picture spot did not have any of the flowers this year. I don't know what happened. I hope they did not get mowed down prematurely. Our new spot this year was our neighbors front yard. It was perfect. Her yard is on an incline and is half full of Bluebonnets. They are gorgeous.

My silly girl.

It is hard to believe she will be 3 next month.

Just Finished Reading......

What a wonderful book! If you read and enjoyed The Kite Runner you will also love this book.

"A Thousand Splendid Suns is a breathtaking story set against the volatile events of Afghanistan's last thirty years — from the Soviet invasion to the reign of the Taliban to post-Taliban rebuilding — that puts the violence, fear, hope and faith of this country in intimate, human terms. It is a tale of two generations of characters brought jarringly together by the tragic sweep of war, where personal lives — the struggle to survive, raise a family, find happiness — are inextricable from the history playing out around them.
Propelled by the same storytelling instinct that made The Kite Runner a beloved classic, A Thousand Splendid Suns is at once a remarkable chronicle of three decades of Afghan history and a deeply moving account of family and friendship. It is a striking, heartwrenching novel of an unforgiving time, an unlikely friendship, and an indestructible love — a stunning accomplishment."

We are truly blessed by the freedoms we have in this country and many times take them for granted.

Loreto House

A couple Sundays ago in our church bulletin there was a flyer promoting a new Catholic organization here in Denton called the Loreto House. It was an invitation to come and tour Loreto House and The Holy Family Thrift Store, meet the organizers and speak with them about ways to volunteer. I have been wanting to find other ways to get more involved with my church and decided to check it out.

I went to their website http://www.loretohouse.org/index.html to read more about the organization. After looking around the website and reading their mission I really felt motivated to help. Loreto House is a non-profit organization, who will primarily serve women who are facing an unplanned pregnancy. They also want to incorporate helping the elderly and individuals who are terminally ill. I feel very drawn to help this organization because of the value they place on life at all stages. I just wanted to share this great organization with others.

The Holy Family Thrift Store just opened a couple of months ago and is
located on Ave C in the Carriage Square Shopping Center. Any profits they make help to maintain Loreto House. Go check it out or donate any unwanted items to them.

Beautiful Sound

I had my first visit last week with my midwife. I was 10 weeks along and I heard the heartbeat! What a beautiful, reassuring sound. I felt so much more relaxed after hearing it. My midwife said everything looked great and I seem to be right on track for an October baby. I will be seeing her once a month right now. I will probably have a sono around 18-20 weeks but we are not finding out the sex this time. What a fun surprise it is going to be!

I'm not sure how much Dylan really understands but she does ask if there is a baby in my belly and why can't she see it. Then she will ask if my belly is getting bigger and can she touch it. It is really cute.
