Keep Austin Weird

So I went to Austin to visit my sister the week after Christmas. I just love Austin, it really is a great place. So the day we got there Tami said lets take Dylan to look at Christmas lights. So I'm thinking she is going to take us to some fancy uptown neighborhood that spends thousands of dollars to hire professionals to hang their Christmas lights. Well, not quite. She takes us down town and here are some pictures of the decor. I don't know of any other place that showed as much creativity with their Christmas lights.

Here is an old stove, decorated with Christmas lights and fake snow. I think on the inside was a plastic nativity scene.

I'm guess they don't use this truck. I can't remember what was in the drivers seat, Santa Clause, maybe.

This yard was all about making political statements. That is a picture of Obama.

Same house.

Austin sky line.

Who doesn't have a Praying Mantis made of cardboard and foil in their yard?
Not really sure what this was.

Greatness!

I can't believe it has been so long since I wrote a blog. We have been super busy. We had a great Christmas, especially Dylan. It was such a blast watching how excited she was this year. I had a nice break from work. I took a week off around the holidays, so I was off for 12 days in a row. It was great!

Dylan and I spent a few days with Tami in Austin. Dylan really enjoyed being around her Aunt Tami. She wouldn't let me do anything while we were there. She would only let "her" Tami give her a bath, put on her clothes, take her to potty. Tami was loving it. While we were there we did some shopping at the San Marcos outlets, ate out a couple of times and took Dylan to the Children's Museum downtown.

Dylan and I got back home on New Year's Eve and we spent the evening with some of our good friends from church. We all tried to make it until midnight but when the kids started fighting over toys we knew we were way past bedtime.

Just when I thought things were going to calm down after the holidays, this past week, our daycare was shut down. Those of you who live in the area probably saw the news. A four month old baby died at our daycare. Such a horrible tragedy. I can't even begin to imagine what the family is going through right now. I have heard it was possible SIDS or reflux and the baby aspirated. I don't believe an official report has been released yet. So we are in search of yet another daycare. I told my co-workers that they were lucky we cannot afford to live on one income right now or I would have put in my notice last week.
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you all many blessings this new year.
