Since I haven't posted in a while I thought I would do a quick update (I'm having a slow afternoon at work).
Mostly I have been consumed by getting things ready for this new baby. While I'm excited that the day is approaching (only about 6 or so more weeks) I feel like there is so much to get done. Mostly we have been working on getting the baby room somewhat ready. I know there is really not much of a rush since the baby will sleep in our room for quite a while but I feel the need to get something done! Nesting...I don't remember that setting in until closer to Dylan's due date; but with this baby I feel like I have been nesting the entire pregnancy. I'll post pics once we have the baby's room complete. Maybe Abe can finish painting this weekend.
We also have been in the process of refinancing our house. We closed on that last week! A few weeks ago I heard there were some really great interest rates out there so I decided to check into it. Abe and I were approved for a much better rate than we got 5 years ago so we decided to refinance, combine the 80/15 loan we had and decrease our loan from a 30yr to a 15yr note. We are so excited at the thought of having our entire house paid off in a maximum of 15yrs. Throughout the process we ran into a couple bumps in the road. Our appraisal did not come back good at all. Our house was appraised for less that what we paid for it 5 years ago. I was told that was just the market we were in right now and it will get better. I guess there is no reason to be concerned since we are not planning on moving. We also had to have out house inspected for wood eating insects (termites), $400 later we passed the inspection. They found termites in one area of the house and carpenter ants outside. We had to treat both of those in order to pass the inspection. While we hated to spend that money it was a good thing the termites were found before we had to start replacing walls. Oh and the carpenter ant thing, apparently they can be just as damaging as termites. I didn't know that. I thought they were just big ants. Why doesn't anyone tell you these things? I have come to the conclusion that there really needs to be a class out there for new homeowners.
A while back I talked about an organization in Denton called Loreto House that I was hoping to volunteer at. I really felt a calling to volunteer and help mothers that come through there. I love teaching and because I'm so passionate about breastfeeding I decided to start teaching a breastfeeding class. I had my first class last week. I had one mother attend, which was nice, since it was my first class. I put together a folder for her with handouts that we discussed and that she could keep for future reference. I also included a Denton LLL schedule (because I love LLL and think it is a wonderful support system for breastfeeding moms) , some Lansinoh lanolin samples (the company provided me with free samples) and a wallet size card that states it is legal in Texas to breastfeed in public. I had a great time teaching the class. I hope I provided the mother with some good information to get her off to a good start or at least who to turn to for help if she needs it. I'll be teaching a class every few months or so.
I may have mentioned this in an earlier post but Dylan started her "big girl" school a few weeks ago. She loves her new daycare. They do so many fun things there. She had her first talent show last week. I'll try to post some pics of that tonight. It was so fun watching all the kids perform.
